Any pros or cons to which one I should inquire about? Does anyone happen to know a range of pricing off hand? Is it in the hundreds or thousands? Just thought maybe I could get a better feel for things prior to making the call!

Hi! I've had the invisible fence brand fencing here for my 2 Golden's for 4 years now. I love it! I can let my dogs out and they can go and stay outside for a few hours at a time without my worrying. The key is to have the fence professionals do the training with your dog. I reinforced the training but within 2 days my dogs knew the boundary and were happy to run about.
It is to the point now that one of my Golden's really no longer has to even wear the collar to keep him in the yard but I do still put it on. I'm not going to tell you it's 100% fool proof but I've not had a break through in 3 years. I live on an acre and the cost for the installation and training and collars for 2 dogs was $1,200.00. Each year I have a plan I renew for the batteries and for any damage to the fence caused by anything including lightening that coast me $199.00. Well worth the price for me.

I had the invisible fence and I don't recommend it. My female would walk into the fence and get shocked. She ended up with two infected burns on her neck. Remember you are shooting electricity into your pup. My neighbors have a dog with an invisible fence and it has caused him to become more aggressive towards people. My opinion on why is because he used to be a people greeter, but once the fence was in and he would run to greet people he would get shocked so he associates people with the shock. Third an invisible fence may keep your dog in but will not keep other animals out. Fourth if your dog does get out of the yard (sometimes they run through the fence to get away from the shock) they can't get back into the yard. Fifth, it is easy when playing with your dog to accidentally throw a ball or toy into the "no zone" and your dog gets zapped just for playing with you. So many cons and the only pro over regular fencing is the aesthetics of your yard.

We paid approximately $1800 for an invisible fence for two large dogs, Malamute and Great Pyrenees. The Malamute learned the boundaries relatively easily. However, when he got to chasing rabbits, he would run through the invisible fence and then could not get back in the yard. The Pyrenees would walk into the electrified area and sit there. She ended up with two large burn wounds on her neck from the collar. We ended up having to give up on the invisible fence and had to put up regular fencing to keep them in the property.

my dad just put in invisable fence for his dog. It works great. He paid about $800 for it, but he says it is absolutly worth it. And the dog now has complete run of his property.
