Me and my sister have decided to treat our parents to 4 nights away in a hotel to thank them for all their help over the years with our schooling (we both graduate from uni soon). The holiday is coming up and we have decided to tell them by writing it in a thank you card and handing it to them together. Me and my sis are hopeless at English but we really want to write something heartfelt to show them how much we appreciate them! Any ideas? Thanks x

I'm gonna give u a star!
It's really heartwarming, what u r doing for your parents. You deserve praise and i think your parents would be very proud of you.
You could tell them how much you love them, bring up a memorable event in your lives where you actually felt their care to bring out the nostalgia. You could bring up a few.
After that at the end, you could write a statement which says something of letting them rest and spend their golden years relaxing, saying you'll take care of them...
Just an idea...
Good luck!

Erm....You are both about to graduate from University and yet you claim to be hopeless at English?
I suggest some more study.
If you really want to thank them then the words should come easily and will be more natural, your parents know you better than anyone else so if you use words which you wouldn't use normally then they will know the message is contrived, saccharine and designed to impress.
Be yourselves. A heartfelt message should be from YOUR heart. Not someone else's.

Something like - Dear Mum & Dad, We may not say it often but we want you to know how much you are loved and just how much we have appreciated the sacrifices and help you have given us throughout our education. You may be proud of us on our Graduation Day but we will be the proudest people in the hall because we will have you there as our parents. This little gift is just a token of our love and appreciation of you, we can never repay you but wanted you to know how much you mean to us now and always. With all our love .........

I agree with most....some great ideas here but a parent is usually heart-touched by personalization and altho there are some really good thankU notes here be sure to respectfully share some tender memories....even those that weren't so perfect after all, we could all thank our parents and admit parental guidance - no matter what the resistance - was a job well done ;)

how lovely. why not instead of a letter, between you write a poem reflecting your gratitude and put it in a gorgeous silver frame, that way they will have something they can cherish and have on display to remind them of how much you appreciate everything they have done for you. i do this as gifts for people i generally care for and people are extremely touched. good luck with whatever you decide.

well it does not have to be poetic...just write down what you feel at the time... "we chose you to be our parents because we knew we'd love you and you both deserve something back from us"....they will be thrilled...theres not many kids out there who would think about something like that...so hand it to them with a great big smile and give them both a huge hug for being great parents
