More urban mythology, this particular gem is much loved by horror writers. No neither of them do. Remember that both hair and nails are dead tissue anyway, even in live individuals!

Are you sure this isn't an old wives tale . Supposedly when they exhumed One of Rossetti's Mistress her hair coveted face like spun gold . But could that have been Romantic fiction.
I did hairdressing and the subject of hair growth came up.
Reasonably how could it be the Blood has stopped circulating their couldn't be enough in the hair cells to keep growth up .

its a myth they dont continue to grow its the skin it starts to retract as it dries out giving the immpesssion of longer nails and hair

They don't - Thats a myth. Your body looses water by evaporation, and your skin tends to shrink - That makes it LOOK like your nails have grown, but your skin on your fingers has simply shrunken a bit. Gross but true.

They don't continue to grow, it only appears that way because the skin begins to shrink after death.

It appears they do. Water leaves the skin and it appears that the nails grow.

They don't-they just appear to,the skin actually shrinks due to blood not being pumped around the body anymore.
