Personally I'd get a male to go with your girly (as long as your girl is neutered), they are less likely to fight. Also ensure that your dog is good with other dogs. To introduce another pup/dog allow the new pup to lie on something that belongs to your current dog then take it home for the nutty beagle to smell. That way they know each others smell.
If possible introduce them on neutral territory.

I would get a male. I have a female beagle (very nutty too) and a female border collie - they fight (not literally) for the alpha position. A male dog will give a natural pecking order.

It depends on the temperament of your female dog, if she gets on with other bitches there shouldn't be a problem, I know some people say bitches fight when they live together but I have 3 and don't have any trouble. Adult dogs rarely fight a pup although it will tell it off, but pup has to learn it's place, so never leave them alone together until your sure of both dogs. Get your camera ready you'll get some great pictures

Should you get? Or do you want? If your thinking of adding to the family, get a puppy. The older dog has less a problem adjusting. If female is fixed it shouldn't make a difference in the sex.

Well if you get a male they will she will probally have puppies sooner or later ( but maybe she is fixed) but be preparred if you get a male you might not want a bunch of puppies.I think you should get a girl beagle.

my friend raises beagles. Do you want to train the dog to hunt or have it as an indoor dog?. Females are harder to train to hunt and the males are harder to house train. But both are smart dogs. I owned a female, she was high energy, but delightful.

I heard male puppies will mark their territory, ALOT, so maybe you might want a female one. Unless you like the smell of puppy pee, whatever floots your boat man.

two females may not get on as they will fight for dominance, best go for a male, but get them spayed/castrated.
