Does she resent me for putting her through that?

Ok, so I went to pick up her from the vet and she didnt look happy to see me at all, then I took her home and she didnt let me stroke her either.
She didnt mioaw much, but I guess thats normal, but she didnt want to sleep under the duvet with me like she normally does and I thought she would be absolutley knackered and dying for a sleep, but she was up all night again, jumping on things and being naughty, and again this morning she barely noticed me.

I feel bad enough, because she's only 9 months and will never have kids now.I know its not the same as for humans, but still.

Anyway, is this normal?

Thanks.

I don't think she resents you. Remember she just had some major surgery and it is normal for her to be a little moody for a few days. Give her love when she will let you and remember that you made the decision for her health and well being.

She was probably up all night because the anesthesia completely wore off. I know that when my female cat came home from a dental cleaning (they use anesthesia), she was groggy the rest of the day. The next day, she was back to her normal behavior. Don't let her jump around too much though, as it can damage the incision sight. And if you feel that she might still be in pain in a few days, I bet your vet could give you something for her. Again, when my female cat comes home from a dental, they also send home small amounts of pain medication to give if necessary.

She might be leery of your for a day or two simply because you took her to the vet. Doesn't matter what the appointment was for, it's the fact that you took her there. She'll soon forget about it, though. She's not worried about not having kittens, either. Once the hormonal drive to mate is gone, she's not thinking about kittens what so ever.

I must be very lucky that when my kitten was spayed at 5 months (8 mths now), she didn't show any signs like yours has. When I collected her from the surgery she was pleased to see me. At home she ran about like she was on 5 star petrol. I was concerned because I thought the stitches would burst with all the activity. No harm done, she only once to my knowledge seemed concerned about the wound, but was licking it rather than biting. Being long haired it showed a bald patch for ages but she didn't seem aware of this.

I do hope that your kitty is back to her loving self soon. Try not to worry too much, I'm sure all will be forgotten. After all it is only us humans who have reasoning, she really will not "miss" her bits and pieces.

yes she is mad at you, but she will get over it, you took her there and now she hurts so in her eyes, you did it to her, it's your fault. Just think about how you would feel if you were the cat. When she stops hurting she will forget about it and love you again. I had a male cat neutered before and it was the same thing but when he was feeling better, he forgot all about it. He was forever young and playful, he lived a long happy life in the end. He never ran away except to go exploring and even when he was like 12 he stilled played like a kitten, I loved that cat more than any cat I ever had.

I have seen a lot of questions like this one. Give her some time. Being fixed is a big thing.

You did think first, right? I mean, before you got her fixed. Did you think about her not having kittens?

Now. Back to reality. Contact your vet and asked him/her why is she acting so abnormally. I think this may be a little normal after cats get fixed.

Please dont worry about her strange behaviour, shes been through a traumatic experience and she bound to feel off for a couple of days.
I deal with cats who have been operated on all the time, clients reports lots of different behaviours, some are overly clingy, others just want to be left alone for a day or so. She'll ne fine give her a couple of days.
You've done the right thing, she doesn;t need to have kittens. She wont be bothered....

Did they give her a pain killer after the surgery? She may be feeling a bit drugged, out of it, in pain, not in pain, etc. She propably does not feel normal, and is not acting normal.

You are obviously feeling guilty for causing her this discomfort. You are being a responsible pet owner, and deserve no guilt.
She will not remember that this even happened in a few days, so don't stress, she will notice that you are stressed, and will act even wierder.

I would be more worried if she were in immense pain or extremely lethargic.
I am sure that she will be fine in a day or two!

She is sulking and putting you on a guilt trip, carry on with your normal routine with her and eventually she will give in and give you a cuddle. She might still be a bit sore after the op and so doesnt want petting but that will soon wear off. Dont feel guilty getting her neutered was the best thing to do and she will forgive you eventually.

I think I'd act a little strangely if someone neutered me. We did our dog a year ago and he acted strangely for a few days and then improved, back to his normal self (possibly more affectionate if anything). Your cat is probably a bit sore and still getting over the effects of the anaesthetic. Give it a week and see.

You are imposing your feelings on the cat. She doesnt know she cant have kittens for instance. She is probably still a little mad at you for the vet but she will be fine and a better companiion for you as she is less likely to run away.
