Doctors require women to get tested yearly for cancer, cervical cancer to be specific. So if we can do a test yearly for women to detect that type of cancer, why cant we do a test yearly for everyone to detect cancer, blood test, simple x-ray, some kind of test. Why is cervical cancer put on a pedestal and not any other cancer, or any other persons, men or women? I find this disturbing, and to say it's to expensive is not in the entire true, doctors and the government make these procedures so expensive, costs could be cut.

Well men should be checked for prostate cancer yearly.
Not all cancers are alike. Cervical and prostate cancers are two of the easiest cancers to detect, that's why it is recommended that people have themselves checked.

Its not just the issue of expense, its the cost-benefit that they look at.
I'm sorry if it seems a bit harsh to say this, but implementing screening for all types of cancer would cripple the entire health care system and for very little benefit.

Cervical cancer is easily detected, and if detected early enough they can remove it before it spreads (ie if you have abnormal cells they can remove them before they alter into cancer cells).

This is not true for other types of cancer - not all types are easily detected, and for other types of cancer detecting them earlier will not benefit the patient as there may be very little that can be done.

Cervical/prostrate cancers are the ones the medical community can screen for. Unfortunately you cannot screen for other types. Often you have to wait until the cells are present to detect them.
