why did he blush? Then I tried to confirm when he'd be available and he said he was taken? I meant it as a repayment for a favor, but he took it as something else. Why?

He blushed because he took your comment as flirting with him. He told you he was taken because he is not interested in you in that way. Usually when a female offers to take a man out or buy him a drink it's a sign that she is interested in him. Maybe you should clarify it to him that you just wanted to repay him for whatever he did for you and you didn't mean the disrespect his commitment to his relationship.

he was ashamed of u that's why he blushed. and by the way i woudlnt' want my man to be invited by some floosie for a drink - repayment or no repayment. stay aways from other women's men. and by the way a real man can afford to by his own drinks

Well it is obvious he thought you were coming on to him. Why did you owe him a drink? Maybe he did not understand why either.
