The date stamped on the package of milk is the sell by date and is set for the point where the milk will not be past its prime for flavor. Give the buttermilk a sniff to see f it smells okay. You are right at the edge of going bad. Of course if you pour it and it is chunky, don't use it.

Absolutely! Just give it the sniff test, and look at it. If it seems normal, it's fine.

The expiration date is just an arbitrary date at which the product should ALWAYS be good. The vast majority of items will be good WAAAY beyond that date. Just use common sense........something that *some* people seem to be sorely lacking in!!!

Yes. My mum does it all the time. Just tastes a bit stronger. Not for young kids and elderly though (she is 70 - but then she has always bucked the trend and is remarkably healthy for it!)

well Buttermilk is like already sour so usingit now would make things taste horrible so i wouldn't if i where you.

Sure, why not. It's like sour milk anyway. Use it in waffles or some such thing. I always do.
