It is sooooo confusing... first, Christians say Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are all the ione and the same, but Jesus is God in human, mortal form... but God in any form would not need guidance... so Jesus wasn't God, just the son of God, but then in one place you are told only to pray to God, but in others told to pray to Jesus.... but, of course, we know there are no incomnsistencies in the Bible, soooooo....?

12 apostles:
Simon bar Jonah, Andrew brother of Peter, James and John sons of Zebedee, Philip, Thaddeus, Bartholomew, Thomas, James the Less, Matthew, Simon the Canaanite, Judas Iscariot which was replaced by Matthias.
Jesus prayed to God because He was tempted by devil and He is in a crisis. He prayed all night when He is in a crisis seeking for God's answers to His praying.

During the time of Jesus' earthly ministry, he had laid aside his divine power. (See Philippians 2:5-11). He function as a human, using only the powers that were available to any other human - prayer, fasting, the infilling of the Holy Spirit, etc.
It was his custom to often go and spend long hours (such as overnight) in prayer. (Matthew 14:23, Mark 6:46, Luke 9:28, Luke 22:41). It was during those times he received his instructions, guidance and strength each day. Many of the prayer times were immediately followed by either a major decision (such as the choosing of his disciples), a miracle, or an important event in his life (such as his arrest, trial and crucifixion).

Jesus was the Son of God and knew his reason on earth. He wanted constant assurance from his Father to do what's right.

I believe for guidance, and to become centered and peaceful in mind and body for the task. He knew that when he spotted these gentlemen the next day, during his travels, which ones he was to ask.

Jesus was both God and man. Just like any man he wanted to have the guidance of his Father and the Holy Spirit before he made his choices.
Peace!
