eggshell or off white would probably look splendid.

That depends on the kind of look you're going for...try these and see what you think: medium to dark chocolate, a darker shade of gold, russet (burnt orange), teal, burgundy, medium to slightly darker green. If your sofas have arm covers or pillows, take them with you when you go look for carpet and see how they look with each other. Sometimes, a carpet dealer will allow you to take a few samples with you for a day or two so that you can get a better idea of what it would look like in your own home. Doesn't hurt to ask, all they can do is say no, but sometimes they say yes. Give it a try.

Just remember whatever color you decide on, it should be in the warm color family; yellows, corals, peaches, browns, etc..NO blue/gray/black/red/(altho some shades of red have a warm or yellow undertone)...when you decide on a few colors, get large samples and put them on the floor and leave them for at least 2-3 days, so you can see how the light during different times of the day affects it..you may find a color you werent so crazy about turns out to be easier to live with than you though; &, a color you really like would not be as good as you thought...get the largest samples you can, free or not; they are worth paying for if you have to...what are you wall/drapery colors? email me!! I'd like to know!!!!!!!!11

cream, light blue, burnt orange just try to keep the carpet on the light side. Brown is easy to work with just about anything looks good with it. Think about what theme you're going after. Also think about the window treatments and their color and go from there.

I think a neutral color would be lovely otherwise if you think it may soil to easily I'd be looking at the green tones, not too dark though, would have to be the right shade of green.

Neutrals always work. Try a beige or monochromatic neutral pattern. Wood is always nice too.

Cream and/or beige should work just fine I think. Try something that has patterns on it...(stay away from busy patterns)
