hi i have just found out i have polycystic ovaries and my best chance of trying to concive is to lose a lot of weight and quickly. we have been ttc for about6 months and this is just another blow for uscause now i find im not ovulating at all. my son is three and has told as he wants a brother or sister. please help

I too have polycystic ovaries. I dropped 17 kilos in 5 weeks by using 'Optifast' the very low calorie liquid diet. You just add water to the satchet, so it is easy to make. You also need to drink 2 litres of water a day. It may seem restrictive but you need to follow it very strictly for it to work. What happens is you put your body in to ketosis(starvation mode) which means you use your stored fats. The other thing that helped, is ablood test to check your hormone levels, I had very low progesterone, so i was prescribed a cream which has helped rebalance things. I also take a diabetic drug (I am not diabetic) called metformin, this helps with your sugars & again has helped me lose weight. The doctor also told me to get chromium picolinate from the health food shop. All of these things & exercise, i have found the weight has fallen off. In the past I have starved & exercised for hours at a time & not lost weight, but all of these things together have helped. I was trying a fertility specialist to get pregnant, & all he did was give me drugs to force me to ovulate, it didn't work as he didn't fix the problem. Good Luck.

You are in for a rough go, with losing weight. But, you can't be discouraged. The best way that I've found people lose weight is: Eat a healthy breakfast, something that will supply you with energy for a long time. Not too many carbs. The energy that they provide lasts a short amount of time and makes you tired later. Eat light food. salads, vegetables, lowfat lunchmeat, all those are good weight loss tools. If you feel hungry mid- day, grab a weight loss shake or bar. don't midnight snack, whatever you do. Eat small dinners. unless you run three miles each night after dinner, everything you eat will slowly turn to fat while you sleep, because you are inactive when you sleep (Call me Sir Points-Out-The-Obvious-A-Lot). Make sure you eat dinner, though, otherwise you will probably binge at breakfast. Also, exercise. a lot. And most of all, remember this fact: Hunger does not come from an empty stomach. It comes from lack of nutrition. You may feel full after eating junk food, but you will feel hungry again shortly afterward. Well, I am going to stop typing before this answer becomes long (haha.) Good luck, and stay centered on that goal of having a kid! You can do it.

The fastest way is to take the alkaline liquid diet.

Fats are nothing more than stored acid. If you continue to take acidic food, even with exercise you cannot get rid of fats. I have been fumbling with this question for a long time.
What worked for me was to go on the treadmills at least 20 mins 3 times a week, and increase from there.
Also, drink citrus juices, cut off fatty foods, reduce sugar, eat frequent light meals, and you lose weight and stay healthy.

try and cut out as much sugar and fat from your diet as possible.. trying to stick to your national food guide is probably a good way to make sure your eating healthy...

also if you can't join a gym or something for excerise..

if you have some stairs in your place run up and down them for about 20 mintues.. that will get your heart rate up good cardio work out
