hi there buddy,my advice get yourself down to pc world sharpish.they are doing great deals for easter and ive just read that they have a good spec complete pc for £299 or a cracking top of the range laptop thats perhaps over your budget but down from £799 to just £399.as far as views on makes which are good and bad i personally say ignore them,i have been repairing and rebuilding/upgrading for a few years now pcs for many people and 90% of problems are caused by rubbish software..as always people say its just a rubbish pc,the one i am using was given to me when a chap upgraded and i have never had a problem with it,he said it has always been trouble but again it was down to rubbish software.i do all my video editing cb burning internet browsing etc on this machinr and its perfect.hardware will only run as good as the software controlling it.good luck.

Buy a copy of Micro Mart computer mag it's only £1.99 at any good newsagent. They have a number of reliable companies advertising laptops. You can get a good factory reconditioned one with warranty or new if you prefer. Hope this helps.
