I own a shop, and I'm president of a corporation. As I see it, Toyota seems to be doing everything right. A quality product, a reliable product, and someone at Toyota has been listening to the people who buy them, as they offer many things the big three doesn't. Combine this with a solid marketing strategy, and you have all the components for major success. Oh... you wanted to evaluated the marketing strategy. I would give them a A- in this sector. How to improve on something that is working, is like saying you need to fix something that isn't broke. Since advertising is tax deductible, then pouring more into this area is about the only way to improve. I think back to what the little dog did for Taco Bell, and I would get a lovable pup to do a classroom type advertisement that would turn the world to talk about the Toyota add. I know... talk is cheap, but it also makes people remember the ad. Outside this, they seem to be right on target with doing everything right. How one improves on success is always the big question in any business. This is why the successful marketing firms make the big bucks, and all the rest are just marketing firms. Success breeds success, and forgetting what got them there, is sometimes the single most fatal mistake made in the marketing world.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Toyota Marketing Strategy

Just a marketing strategy does not sell cars. The goal of marketing is just to convey the message to the consumer, they still need to back it up with a real product. Empty marketing promises with a bad product will work only for a while. Toyota has proven their worth by building cars that are at the top of the reliability rating fro several years now. Toyota means reliability .

They also have listened to the consumers and responded to the needs of the average person.

Another reason Toyota is moving towards the top is the idiocracy of the big three. While Japan make better cars, Detroit is just repackaging old cars in new cover and wants to sell them using patriotic ads. Even though a lot of them are made in Mexico.

Since they work with Japan's government to keep the Yen undervalued which gives them a $4500 gain on every vehicle imported and they import 50% of the vehicles they sell in the US I think they are doing a good job of ripping off the Americans. And since they recalled 2.7 million vehicles in 2006 and are having engine and transmission problems, they have a lot of Americans brainwashed into thinking Toyota's are the greatest vehicle in the world.

Well, the Scion brand was certainly a big hit, with its direct and semi-agressive aim at the youthful tuner market.

Toyota makes good ads, but they will have to fix their cars problems if they want to do good in the future. Just read this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjBWXBH9.rW4w8Xffa0c8Ujty6IX?qid=20070301210328AAn8E5d GM is now making good cars and trucks, but they have the worst ads. If GM wants to sell their cars they have to get interior shots to erase awful memories and back them up with facts.
