One of the really common things that comes back in questions about evolution is "if we evolved from monkeys, why are monkeys still here?".

This shows an extremely poor understanding of evolution.

Do they not realise that we share common ancestory with monkeys and apes and that we didn't come from any existing species?

Also, evolution dosn't nessecarily dictate that the original species gets wiped out. Natural selection can lead to different changes in different regions. In one region, the original species may still be the one with the best chance of survival. Ultimately a range of species that evolved from the original may end up occupying the same region.

Why do they criticise when they don't even understand these basic fundamentals?

They have to protect their "faith" at all costs. Its a house of cards that will fall if they allow themselves to think. They parrot what some two bit psuedo-scientist says and think they are being smart. Its really unfortunate, especially when they push this tripe into the schools.

I'm really not sure why some professed Christians have such a poor understanding of evolution. It may be that they feel it is beyond their understanding. Of course, that is not really true. The late Theodosius Dobzhansky, an evolutionary scientist, once said that although much of the work done by scientists is beyond the comprehension of the average person, evolution is not. Rather, it is a matter of basic biology. Another evolutionist, George Gaylord Simpson, said that a person doesn't have to be a research biologist to evaluate the evidence on evolution.

The theory of evolution truly fascinated me and I seriously considered the evidence pro and con. I still try to keep up with it, particularly when new "fossils" are found. But after giving it that serious consideration, I came to the conclusion that, genetically, biologically and otherwise, the theory of evolution does not rise to the level of fact and therefore I reject it as such.

But I do agree with you in that so many have a very poor understanding of the basics. I suppose, however, that the same can be said of those who enthusiastically ridicule and reject the Bible. I have lost track of the number of times people have asked why Christians believe that the earth and all life on it was created in six literal days or why God just didn't forgive Adam and Eve and be done with it. These two questions arise from a seriously poor understanding of the Bible in the first instance, and exactly what issues were involved in the second instance.

Studying evolution actually brought me back to the Bible. For a long time I was convinced it was true, and that if God existed he must have used evolution for the process of creation. However the more I looked into it, the more skeptical I became, until I finally decided for myself it was a fraud. A hopeful hypothesis, full of holes, filled with wishful thinking and speculation. If a scientist states he believes in Creationism, he is instantly declared a fraud and a fool. No matter how well accredited he is. They claim there is no science to creationism because it cannot be tested, repeated, or falsified. Well show me your science for abiogenesis, using the same standard, show me one documented case where a mutation increased the genetic knowledge of its host. Have you ever studied microbiology at all and seen what it would take to create one single functioning cell spontaneously? Talk about a miracle! Try this if you dare, take an objective look at evolution and really study it. See if your still so convinced. Expalin why we are so closely related to Chimps, but chimps cannot plan for the future, build a shelter that will keep out predators, talk or contemplate their actions. Why not, we are sharing 95% or more of the same genetics? Where are the transitional fossils? Ecvolutionists claim they have five. Wow! Five out of how many transitional life forms there had to have been. And those are highly suspicious. Take the actual bones to 5 different artists and ask them to draw the animal they think it came from. Even give them a hint if you want. You will get five different creatures.

I do understand the basic fundamentals of evolution. I just simply do not believe the fairy-tale notion that just because primates share a similar morphology with humans that there exists a common genetic trait accounting for mutations that caused an actual instance of metaplasia. Think about it- the whole argument about species adapting to their environment for survival. OK. Why would a fish that's already in an environment suitably adapted for its inherent function and survival need to crawl out of the water and become something else, say, a monkey which continues on to become man? The only thing good that has ever come from the theory of evolution is the great ideas its given us for science-"fiction" movies.

If we all came from pond scum, why is there still pond scum? Until you can show transitional fossils then it can not be validated. These fossils should be everywhere, but they haven't found any. Why are there fossils of animals that are existent today? Why did this evolution stop? There are just too many questions for evolution to stand up. They finally got rid of the direct descendant theory. But, that used to be the theory. That's why it is a theory, that's why it changes. Because it isn't fact, its a myth that has no validity. The complexity of the human body alone is enough to prove that evolution is a lie. Nothing as complex as the human body can happen by chance.

If God created the universe and everything in it, why couldn't he have made evolution? As a way for us to understand how life "grew up" instead of just a snap of fingers and here we are?

Do you really think the person writing Genesis had any idea whatsoever about adaptation, survival of the fittest, etc.??? Or even about dinosaurs? Or things that existed millions of years before him?

Evolution is a theory of mankind with the human mind. Creation is the truth. Almighty God made the whole of the universe with all the living creatures along with human beings on the earth, which is written in the Holy Bible.

Read the verse from the Holy Bible.

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Mar 10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Hbr 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Hbr 13:21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Because Christianity is about Faith their logic is as follows:

1. God created the universe and everything in it
2. God is perfect
3. Therefore nothing can fundamentally change since if it did it would mean God made a mistake to begin with.

No amount of scientific evidence will persuade them, because their beliefs are not based on logic or science to begin with.

I understand the fundamentals of the theory of evoulution and I still believe that it is a highly problematic theory. Adaptation and genetic change within Kind can and has been demonstrated but the jump from one Kind to another has not. It has been postulated and asserted but never proven.

Because they are spoon fed half-baked arguments that coincide with their previously held beliefs. It's less threatening and requires no thought on the matter so it compliments their faith perfectly.

Macroevolution has been demonstrated but regardless, inference is a powerful way of knowing. Do you need to touch every hot stove to prove to yourself that it is indeed hot?
