I am considering getting laminate wood but have two older (11 and 15 years old) dogs that sometimes have accidents and was wondering if they would ruin it. I may have to go with travertine.

There acid in there piss would eventually cause the glue to release and the laminate will lift. Its not something that will happen quickly. If you put down the wood flooring and want a tough great gloss finish that will protect your floors get the professional grade Min wax high gloss floor poly. If your getting that purgo snap and lock stuff then forget what I just said dog piss won't bother it. The can is black and silver.

Well never mind about the dogs, any moisture on laminate flooring is bad news, there are blocks you can buy, but for laminate flooring? its just not a good idea.

The only solution to this, is to clean up after them asap.

Dog pee is powerfull stuff! The amonia and acid will bleach the stain, peel the varnish, and cause the laminations to separate. Those floors are beautiful, so your choice: no laminate floor or no dog!

We have a laminate floor in our kitchen. Our dog has had a few 'accidents' on it. No noticeable damage or stains yet. We just clean them up as soon as we see them.
