I am from Liverpool, we say SCON and Jinsters - we also call round bread BARMS - my fiance is from suffolk and says people from Norfolk are 'Carrot Crunchers' !!
He always says that people in the north west have ruined the english language because of the way we pronounce things I.E. Dance in liverpool is Dans but he says Darnce!!!
It's all good fun anyway listening to the way other people pronounce things and what they call different things such as barms, baps, etc. I love it!!

It's nice to know young people are entering into important debate on such massive issues. I think the pronunciation is as much to do with location as it is to do with how lazy your speech is. My speech centre has slowly been eroded over the years so I tend to say most things in the easiest way, therefore scon and Ginsters. I suppose for the Ginsters debate you could ask their marketing department.

scone as its spelt, not scon! I`m the only one in the office who pronounces it like this and I`m a yorkshire lass whereas everyone else in from the midlands.
And, I`d say Ginsters, not jinsters.

I say "scon" and my bloke takes the piss out of me for saying it like that.
But Ginsters is "Ginsters" - surely the pronounciation with a J is made up.
