No. An AGP card is a video card made to fit into (oddly enough) an AGP (advanced graphics protocol) slot on your motherboard. This hardware is really a small computer designed to provide video output with a graphics processor and memory. Some motherboards have onboard video processing and share memory with the CPU so you don't need a video card with these motherboards. Video cards must compatible with the slot on the motherboard. Old motherboards used a PCI slot, then AGP was used, and now PCIe has become popular as it provides better performance.

The operating system (probably Windows) needs software to utilize the video card. This is generally called a "driver". Software can't replace an AGP video card but you need it to get the best performance.

I don' think any software can replace an AGP card..
but I know some 'hardware' that can.

PCI-E cards are the next generation graphic cards...
AGP card is pretty much becoming historic now..
although they still make them just because people still use AGP running main boards..

No.

If your AGP graphics card died (no video), replace it.

If you're not sure if it's dead (have basic video), run Belarc, then try re-installing the latest drivers from the manufacturer's web site.
