What I ascertain.....
Why harrass Christian? and Others?
I see this happening alot.

If you don't believe in these religions, and don't want nothing to do with God, and you don't want to change, then why harrass the God believers. Why are you here??
We believe there is a God, he is Real, I don't need proof....I know. You think I'm wrong, and I know your wrong.

Perhaps you do want someone to proof to you that there is a God, so then you'll jump for joy and join a religion group.

Lets see if Atheist can answer this question.

I am definitely not an atheist. I totally believe in GOD. My theory on the atheist who are picking at this religious site is that they are not really sure what to believe. I have been using their questions to witness and have been advising all other Christians to do the same. What an opportunity GOD has given us on this site to witness for HIM to believers and the non-believers.

Religion and Spirituality does not apply simply to Christianity. There are many different forms of spirituality, and when asked what religion affiliation I hold, I answer Atheist.

As far as harassing Christians, it sounds as though you have had contact with few mouthy Atheists that are giving the rest of us a bad name. I would never stand up and tell someone to their face that their deep personal beliefs are wrong, as well as I would expect the same respect back. Showing respect for one another's differences is what is at the heart of the matter and it sounds as though a few Atheists have not shown you that respect.

I think that there are alot of assumptions made about Atheism that creates confusion. I am not Atheist because something horrible happened in my life or that I am angry with religion in general. It is also not because of a lack of understanding or exposure to God, the Bible, or its teachings. I have studied about many different religions and spiritual beliefs, both personally and at university. I am always open to intellectual discussion regarding religion, especially Christianity.

I will say as an Atheist that I do not appreciate from some very outspoken religious members is what my husband has dubbed "the passive-aggressive conversion". My latest encounter with this was at the end of a lovely conversation I was having with a gentleman on the city bus. We were discussing our children, jobs, and enjoying each other's company during the ride across town. When he asked me about my religious beliefs, I politely stated that I was Atheist. (I do not feel it appropriate to enter into rants about why I am Atheist, especially since I would not expect that from Christians). From there, this gentleman proceeded to ask me such questions as "Why are you raising your children incorrectly?" or my personal favorite "Don't you believe that murder is wrong?". He continued on the entire ride, telling me how if I could just attend his congregation, I could see how I am living a life that is devoid because I do not have God's love.

Many Atheists feel extremely offended at the idea that we can be converted because we simply don't have all the information. It would be considered rude, offensive, and socially unacceptable to tell other people that I know the truth about Heaven and God and that they are wrong.

*sigh*...the athiests that show up here are here because doubt of God's existence, or belief that God doesn't exist, is also a spiritual point of view, and also a reflection of God, if you understand that or not, and most of the athiests who show up here are not out to harrass anyone, and genuinely want to have an intelectual discussion with you on the nature of the universe and our roles in it, if you're not careful, you might learn something. Instead of getting your panties in a bunch and feeling threatened about it, let it help you think about your beliefs, clarify and strengthen your beliefs by giving some thought to them, and let them bolster your faith in God by testing it. The only reason I can see that anyone should be so threatened when athiests or non Christians show up, is that they are afraid they will somehow be magically converted to that point of view, or someone said something that worked it's way into a chink in your faith armor, and now you have to think about it, and think that there might be some other way to look at it, outside the insulation of your church community. It takes all kinds to make a world, and that includes the R&S world, I wish you folks would relax about it already. If you wish to pursue your faith with blinders on with respect to other faiths, that is a valid choice to help you focus on the teachings of your personal understanding, but if that is your choice, this is not the place to pursue it, your church is. For my own part, my belief in God is sufficiently strong enough that I don't feel at all threatened by the idea that there might be another way of looking at things, either by Athiests, or by Christians, for that matter. Nor do I feel a need to convert others to Paganism, in order to feel secure in my point of view, for that matter...

So can a relative newbie join you guys in the *drink* thing? I think I've seen enough of these what are you doing here questions by now (or is that an athiests only club?)....Slainte!

I'm not an athiest...or a christian...
Though, the Christians definitely do a lot of harassing, themselves!!!
The point of a R&S based board is for debate. There is a line drawn, however, between debate and ignorant harassment. (Which I've had a share of from Xtians in my pagan-directed questions.)
Anyway, my main point is that "God believers" aren't the only religion, which I had to say because that was how I perceived your wording of your additional details...

The atheists have heard this tired, desperate attempt to justify religious belief quite a few times already, thank you.

Ask yourself this: if my beliefs are so great, why do I have to tell lies about others to defend them? If it's so foolish to be an atheist, why am I so desperate to discount what atheists say?

I'd also like to see if you're adult enough to apologize for this rude "question". Next time, try working out your personal issues without insulting others.

just because you are not of faith doesn't mean you don't have an opinion about it.
i don't see a sign that says 'religious people only' isn't that a biased statement?
some of us are fascinated by this fiction that seems to immerse people in fantasy
we want to understand why this happens because it is illogical.
plus it would be nice to be able to convince people of the truth,
and let them see how beautiful it is.
also i must add, that some of the christians here hypocrisise them selves and are bitterly nasty.
at least atheists have a sense of humour,
and sometimes display more humane behaviour than religious types

I'm not here to harass.

I'm here because this is the section in which question and answers pertaining to the subject of religion and spirituality may be posted and shared. This is NOT an exclusive club-house for the religious and spiritual.

Because this is not the "I believe in god section". It's both religion and spirituality, and I don't see an atheist section anywhere, do you? I don't care what you believe, as long as you leave my beliefs alone. But as long as you people are asking atheists questions, we'll be here to answer them.

Edit: And I'd drink, but i'm working =P!

Never had an Atheist harass me...I have had them compliment me and flirt with me, but never attack me. ;-)

I'm thinking it has to do with the fact I don't care if people believe in or worship any Gods. I don't go around telling people I'm right and you are wrong. It's arrogant and rude of you to say that and you then wonder why people "harass" you.

Why do only fascist religionists ask this question all the time?

Why, when an atheist presents an argument it is harrassment?
