Actually traditionally black cats are associated with BAD luck, not good. Ginger cats are lovely, incidentally 19 out of 20 ginger cats are male....... if you get one, get it neutered.

Once more the great divide of the Pond, determines whether black cats are lucky or unlucky.

Superstition has it that the cat has to cross your path unexpectedly and without planning/provocation. Otherwise all in Britain with black cats would be spending all day trying to make the moggy walk in front of them.

I believe that to break the spell of it giving you BAD luck, you have to turn around 3 times!!! (Not something to do in the high street - unless you want the men in the white coats called!).

Since when has ginger been unlucky, except for people who are unable to sit out in the sunshine!

Weird, I though black cats were considered unlucky, not Ginger Tom's.

You should not buy a cat becasue it is lucky or unlucky. You should buy one to be your company. The only thing you must make sure is to be able to make a bond with it.

i am not sure where in the world you are but over here a black cat is only lucky if it cross you path. otherwise they are considered bad luck. so far as i am aware there is no bad or good luck associated with a ginger cat.

black cats actually do have a hard time being rehomed from shelters because of the connection of bad luck. we also don't rehome black cats at haloween because people can horrible to them as they were thought of at one time to be witches familiars.

get what ever coloured cat you want. i have a beautiful chocolate black cat and a black and white cat.

When I choose a pet, I meet them & when it is the right one I know it. It will be a certain look in the eye or just something that feels right. But don't pick based on color. There are alot of black cats named Lucky but they are usually associated with bad luck.

I think you should base your choice of cats on it's personality. I also think neutered males make the best pets. I have a long-haired ginger tom that is an absolute love, and I also have a solid gray male who thinks it is his mission in life to make sure everybody pets him. Your luck is what you make it!

I have a black cat and a ginger cat and they're both great cats. To hell with superstition. As long as the cat is soft and cuddly, that's all that matters.

NO! You should not just buy a black cat just because it is lucky. Besides, it is not full-proof yet if the black cat is lucky.
I think that you should just buy any cat you like. If you give it a lot of love, I think IT is the one who's lucky to have an owner like you!

No, you buy a cat because you like it. Have a good look around, try a cat rescue centre and talk to the people and explain what you would like out of a cat.
