I need to move my cats. Can anyone give me an educated opinion if I should put them in two cat carriers or put them in one big carrier together? They do get along and like to kitty pile with each other at home. What would be more comforting for them?

I'd put them together in one big carrier. My wife and I go to her parents house in Missouri, which is a 10 hour drive for us, at least twice a year and bring our kitties with us. The first time we went, we kept them separate and they pretty much meowed the whole way there.

The 2nd time - we put them in one big carrier with their bed and some toys and my sweatshirt and they were fine - slept the whole way there.

I would get them accustomed to the car as well. Maybe take them on short car trips a few days before you go, that's what we do. Our boys love the carrier. Dante will go in there and sleep in there sometimes. Good luck!

I moved my cats from the Midwest to the West Coast, a 4-day drive. I put each cat in a separate carrier with their own little litter box and a small blanket or towel. (2 in one carrier might be a little heavy!) I got special dishes that attach to the door of the cage and I put dry food in one and ice cubes in the other, which I filled every day. That way they'd melt during the day. I was lucky because the temperature never got over 72 the whole time. Every time I stopped I got choruses of "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" from the cats. They slept most of the time and weren't bothered by the move at all. They can kitty pile at the end of your journey.
