I've frequently seen religious people rant about how "science=lies" on this forum, but shouldn't they be more appreciative of what we are able to achieve with modern science?
Eg: Frozen foods.

What exactly has religion accomplished for humanity?
I don't really see a specific reason to respect religion that much, aside from trying not to piss people off.

It's unfair to assume that a religious person does not appreciate science. In this day in age, it would be impossible to survive without the things science has provided us because we've become so accustomed to it. But on that note, science is fact. Religion is belief. It's up to the individual to decide.

I believe that Science goes hand in hand with the bible, in fact I believe that God was the first scientist.

And God's first scientific experiment were dinosaurs, he wanted to see if he could create life, and what do scientists do when they are experimenting they invent some thing and then stand back and watch it progress.

And that is how evolution could be explained.

I mean picture yourself in the time of Moses who was the first author of the bible and the bombardment of information that was probably sent to him in a dream or vision. Do you honestly think that with that amount of information that he had to process, do you think that he would have been able to explain the creation of time (the big bang theory) in a comprehensive scientific way, the answer is no, the only way to process that information was to illustrate it in a story.

Science means "knowledge". Christians are to grow in both, "grace and knowledge". Science teaches people to read and write (Bible study). Science allows the creation of technology, which in turn, produces the many ways and means for the Gospel to go out into all the world. Only; immature "religious" or Atheistic people would denounce Science. By the way, true science and the Bible really do complement each other !!!

I was raised a Latter-day Saint and they embrace science enough to admit that God himself breaks no laws of nature. How did he create the world? Well, how do you create a cake? You get ingredients and you put them together! The word "create" in the first verse of the Bible is better translated as "organize." Science and religion can go hand-in-hand.

Religion frowns on science because science has many times proven religious belief to be wrong. Religion hates carbon dating. However when most religious people become ill, they love science.

The religious seem to think "true science" is when science doesn't contradict god, they're wrong; true science would be the proper use of the scientific method, if it contradicts god, tough. Science doesn't respect superstitious beliefs.

I am a religious person but I try to be very open minded. I am presently trying to equate scientifically facts to biblical facts, and it does make things hard to believe, if you believe in God and Jesus Christ. I do believe in God/Jesus Christ but I also believe in Sciences also. SO therefore I get caught between "what Fact and Fiction". I know I have probably opened myself up to debate. But I am torn in the middle at times.

I think christians are grateful to God for the man who has the smarts to figure certian things out..or to the dr.s who has performed a operation on a person, or to the ones who helped save a life..but to be grateful to science in the sense you are speaking of think we are more grateful to God..If it wasn't for God we wouldn't be here, if it wasn't for God no one would have the brains to have the smarts that we do have...I am more grateful to God than science..

The latest electronic gadgets somehow help them to propagate as well as fight with each other. Science if used to help the poor and downtrodden may be good. But not for catching the throats of each.
