I was speeding and running a yellow light when someone turned left in front of me at an intersection with poor visibility. I slammed the brakes and narrowly averted a collision!
Before forgetting about the incident, I was briefly thankful I wasn't on the gsxr because I almost certainly would have wiped out. The pavement was still very wet from the rain!
Anyway, when I hit the brakes the tires made a loud screeching sound and then the wheel and car lurched to the left with a decent amount of force. Everything was fine after that though. Does it sound like I locked the wheels?

First be thankful you and the other person are okay. Please for safety, slow down, Yellow mean caution, not Give it more.....
Probably the left side brakes had better traction than right. Road may have been drier or water hitting right brakes. Pull could be due to loose antisway bar, but I'd think you'd feel it eveytime you brake.

Yes, you did lock your wheels. Try pumping your brakes next time to avoid this. And have your brakes checked by the trusted mechanic - they should not have pulled your car to the side significantly. I join others in telling you your speed was too high for the circumstances.
I like your attitude, though - you are trying to learn from your mistakes. Keep up the good work in this direction, and in a few years you'll be an excellent driver!

Well first of all I wouldn't speed too much over limit because if you get into an accident they will take your speeding into account and it would be your fault no matter what. Also if their was an accident it would be their fault because yu can run yellow lights and they were very moronic for not checking for you and just pulling out. Yes you did lock the wheels, but thats better than just slamming into another car. Thats only if it would be their fault and you want a new car ;) *wink* *wink*

I'm sure you did. A little advice, you were lucky, but you were driving too fast for conditions, best to slow down on wet streets and fogy weather.

yeah you locked them and because of the car and the fact that the road was wet is part of the reason it truned like that
