The State Department's report on international terrorism is uncomfortable about mention of specific ethnic, religious and national groups. Having given a disclaimer (page xv), the main body of the report then proceeds to suggest indirectly that Islamic groups (including the Palestinians) are the most significant offenders. This reflects the elite's sponsored view, which is gradually spilling into the popular consciousness, that Arabs and Muslims present the largest threat.

Terrorists are representing them self ONLY becuse ther is no single authenticated text from Qurran or Sunnah that ecourage the Muslim to do terrorism actions.
Some of Conditions for Real Jihad are:
- killing women, childern, old pepole, and non-armed pepole is forbidden.
- All the peace pacts should be respected and never broken untile the other side break it.
- During Jihad it is not allowed to demolish any worship buildings.
These conditions are not met in the Terrorists actions so, this is will always say they are not Real Muslim representing Real Islam. They are pepole with strong faith in the worng direction, they are making their dicision based on politics events and not religous guidance.
This is like when it is said Hitler was not a Real follower of Jesus teachings.

There has been, and always shall be, terrorism in one form or another by one group or another.
As for Islam's current problem of the fanatics hijacking the faith...as far as I am concerned the Islamic faith needs a Reformation much like the Protestant Refromation. True, the PR caused a lot of chaos, but it woke a lot of people up to the fact that their Church had ceased to be a spiritual power and was in fact an oppressive political power. It forced the Chruch to confront the corruption that had mangled it, and inspired what led to the Rennisance.

Terrorism is a side effect of strong disagreement and conflict. And such disagreement doesn't have to be due to religious differences.
There were communist terrorists in Italy and Germany during 1960's and 1970's. And there were christian terrorists in Northern Ireland not so long ago.
Take away the disagreement and resolve outstanding differences. And terrorism will end. This is what happened with communists and christians. And this will probably happen with muslims too sooner or later. No conflict lasts forever.

Those who carry out terrorism in the name of Islam are not following true Islamic teachings. They may call their actions Jihad but true Jihad followed strict rules and limitations:
1. Never attack women or children.
2. Never attack non - combatants.
3. Looting civilian areas is not permitted
4. Jihad must have the support of the religious authorities.
5. Jihads are called only in response to attacks on Islam not to force others to the religion.
6. Surprise attacks are not permitted.
The Military Jihad is also only one aspect of Jihad -- Mohamed taught that it was the "lesser" Jihad. the "greater" Jihad is the struggle within to bring oneself into line with Allah and live a righteous life.
Jihad doesn't have to be to involve violence at all; it can be any struggle in defense of religion. Besides the inner struggle, Jihad can include the following --
1. Jihad of the tongue: written or spoken defense of religion or struggle against evil.
2. Jihad by knowledge: struggle against evil or in defense of religion through scholarly study.
3. Jihad by hand/action: struggle against evil or in defense of religion through postive actions such as charity, good works, or the Hajj.
It should be noted that the militant passages in the Koran are from a time when pagan Arabs and Muslim Arabs were locked in a savage civil war. The passages against Jews came after a Jewish tribe broke a pact they made with the Muslims. The Jewish tribe had a mutual defense agreement with the Muslims -- they had agreed to aid one another if either one came under attack. The pagan enemies of the Muslims attacked the Muslims and the Jews refused to send the agreed upon aid.

Terrorism has nothing to do with Islam to begin with.
You'd know that if you learn the basics of Islam.
Peace.

Terrorism is the side effect of oppression, injustice, desperation and lack of faith in God.
It doesn't just apply to Islam and Muslims, it basically applies to everyone.

Throughout history there have been Muslim terrorists, Christian terrorists, Hindu terrorists, Jewish terrorists etc.
The growing tide of Islamic extremism is because of continued oppression of Muslim peoples at the hands of the West. Why wouldn't Muslims be angry when they look in their backyard and see the US pilaging their oil?
