Where did you got the information about Islam, so as to come to the conclusion about it. From Islamic sources (Holy Quran and Sahih Hadiths) or Anti-Islamic sources who see and make Islam as threat. For example those who deal in Alochol, Prostitution, Opression, Armaments, War, etc. will definitly provide mis-informatuon about Islam so that people will become against it, because Islam is against these. Now it depends upon you whether you see islam as Islam sees itself or you see it as these anti-humanity elements would like you to see it. Islam is just Holy Quran and Sahih Hadith and not the culture/history/events/people, etc. [This is only for those who are free thinking persons who think themselves and not allow others to think for them.]

The problem lies with followers and not with Islam.

They have taken prostitution, alcohol, opression, armaments , war etc, in their literary sense ie dictionary meanings of the words.

Same could be true with other religions also.

These are physical and ritualistic things. You should avoid these things because they give you sensual pleasures only and keep you obsessed with the worldly desires only. But shunning these in itself (though desired) are not the ends that we are seeking. For a prostitute it may be a matter of her livelyhood. It may not be a pleasure thing for her. But for a man it is only for deriving sensual pleasure and thus he is more a sinner than her.

We need bliss which can come only by association with a saint.

You are right to the top! This is so true. Of course there are many people who are against Islam and Muslims. So naturally, they will try to mislead as many people as they can.
