The scion tc are more sutable and made for young people who want performance and reliability in a very affordable price. But the RSX is also a great car to start with as well for better performance and comfort.

If I were you I'd buy an Ol' Beater, something in fair condition and cheap. $500.00 to $1,000.00 for now.Inexperienced drivers tend to have accidents.Especially in wet and icy conditions.Get familiar with driving first in all weather conditions.Newer cars/High Ins. Older Cars? less worries.Even if you 'Trash It' You're not losing much.Gotta pay for that College Tuition you know!

My friend has a Mazda 3. He loves it. It is sporty. It gets great gas mileage. It seems to handle the curves well and has great acceleration. If you get one, get a standard shift. You'll save gas and have more fun driving it. If you can't drive standard shift, LEARN TO!

go with the Mazda, you may get a used one cheaper than some of the others. Then when you graduate you can get a RX8
