Definetly the white part of the egg has protein. The Yolk is the 6 grams of fat. I get egg whites from the grocery store and eat that....its better because you dont have to waste time seperating the yolk out.

Boiled or not. The whole egg is protein. The egg white is about 100% protein (in water). The yolk has some other stuff as well like fat.

Egg is the reproductive body laid by the female encased in a round or oval shell. The egg consists of the thick, clear white (albumen), approximately 60% of total weight of egg, and a yellow yolk, approximately 30% of total weight of egg. The white is 87% water and 10% protein. The protein in egg whites coagulate at 150 degrees F (65 degrees C). The yolk consists of 50% water, 16% protein and 32% fat. The protein in the yolk coagulates at 158 degrees F (70 degrees C).

The yellow yolk contains nutrients for the unhatched chick to which he is attached umbilical style. The white contains the equivalent of our amniotic fluid. It contains albumin only,
The yellow contains all the calories and nutrients of the egg. It contains, proteins, vitamins and cholesterol--that's why the Chick is attached to the yolk and only floats around in the white. Whites contain have no nutritive value, but can still be used in cooking.
