Ok, so my son is 1 year old, and he has loved to watch TV ever since about 6 months....he LOVES Blues Clues...and i let him watch it, and we've bought him some Blues Clues movies....

My question is...how much TV is too much for a one year old?

everyone likes to say that the TV is SOOO bad for you and everyone says they don't watch that much TV (they lie). but studies have been done that a few hours a day of TV aren't a bad thing, especially shows like Blues Clues. those shows can be a great teaching tool for young children.

as long as he is active enough, is a healthy weight, and is getting enough sleep it's fine.

At 1 yr old its not good for children to be watching TV you should maybe get more involved in helping your son start walking and talking i didnt let my kids start watching TV till they were 6 and then only educational shows like Blues Clues,Sesame Street and some cartoons ...get you a hooked on phonics when he gets alittle older and help him get a jump start on other kids before school

My daughter loves TV too, I have to MAKE her go play with her toys. I distract her from it by taking her to the park and reading books with the sounds to her. She also has the Little Leaps game system, so even though she is looking at the TV, she's still learning and I play it with her so she still has some interaction from me. She's getting better and she doesn't get to watch TV for longer that 30 mins.

Totally agree with the 2nd answerer. I have not expose my 1 year old to tv yet. Because he is not use to tv, he does not pay attention on tv as and when there's a chance for him (my mum's house for example). Try to cut down tv time to 1 hour daily and get him involved in physical activities that ancourage him on balancing skills, build up his sense etc.

Research shows that any TV is too much for a one year old. Children should probably not be exposed to TV until age 5 at the earliest. They have their entire lives to watch TV, they can wait.

Well, I would limit it to thirty minutes a day no longer. However I do not profess to be an expert as my son watches way more television than he should. I was just stating what the experts say, I wonder how many of them have Autistic children. My son's whole life is about TV I think.

Doctors love to tell you that you should not allow your child to watch too much tv and the reason is because it can make your child develop learning disabilities such as ADD honestly I don't listen to them they told me no more than about 1-2hrs a day my son is 2 my daughter is 1 and they watch about 4 movies a day that's what they love try buying educational movies for him that's how my son learned to use the potty

my daughter watches alot of tv. i dont think its nesecerily bad for them to watch alot of tv as long is its an interactive learning kind of show.....blues clue, go diego go, dora the explorer, sesame street. those shows are telling kids to get up and do things and they also teach them colors numbers sequences and how to follow simple directions. i think its good for them just as long as you dont turn the tv into a babysitter when you are off doing something else ..stay in the room and help your son count with the tv or find clues if he sees you doing it he will start to do it

My 1 and half year old loves to watch Disney Channel and I let him. As long as you do other things with him and that is not the only interaction your child gets, I don't see anything wrog with it.

if hes getting enough exercise to not be over weight it doesnt matter. Lilys favorite show at six months was Rachel Rays cooking show, now it seems its Mythbusters.
