It totally depends on your personality. People say that we are all social creatures, but I'm usually happy when alone. It is actually possible to feel lonely in a crowd of people.

I think that's natural. I'm from a large family and have a family of my own but have always enjoyed the quite time I have to be by myself. Maybe when you feel lonely you might call a friend to touch base or read a good book. I don't know how many times I have gotten lost in the pages of a good book. A good movie will do the same thing. Doing something that you really like to do will take your mind off of it for a while. Volunteer work will do the trick too. God be with you.

I think it is normal to feel lonely from time to time. Mind you, I am a loner anyway and often cancel visits from friends because I can't be bothered with other people. Then again, I feel alone in a sense that I wish there was a 2nd me, if you understand what I mean.

I feel lonely most of the time. Even though i have my parents who i know care for me, i feel i'm all alone. I try to remind myself that i was born alone, and will die alone. And that other people aren't here to make me feel less alone, that my well being shouldn't depend on if i have someone or not. And i hug my pillow and cry myself to sleep. ... Not a good way i guess, but that's what i do.

Get OUT. Go to an evening class, take up a hobby, learn a new skill, go swimming or to the gym (exercise releases endorphins, which lift your mood) and smile at people, say hello, start a conversation with someone. DON'T sit at home alone.

sure it's part of being a human, I go off and buy arts and crafts and then got home create a few projects, and then the remainder of the items I organize, that usually keeps me distracted anywhere from a few hours to days depending on what I take up as a project. try a hobby you can enjoy, thats the best therapy.

yes, i'm often lonely, but try to hide it, i tend to put on a brave face, which doesn't help, often i listen to music. i think contacting friends would help, the worst type of loneliness is when you're in a group of people and you feel on the outside looking in, i've felt like that most of my life, not fitting in.
