I SPECIALLY WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE RAM AND CPU SPEED RECOMMENDATIONS. I HAVE 512 MB RAM AND 2.09 GHZ CPU. WILL IT BE OK?

Yeap, 1gb. That's easy.

The real issue is the video card. Without a proper one, you will hate Vista!

Here, run the Vista advisor to test your system:

Vista will definitely run much more smoothly with 1 GB RAM instead of 512 MB. I am running it with 1 GB very smoothly and in typical usage I see that 500 to 600 MB RAM is usually occupied. You will definitely be much better of getting 1 GB of RAM if you can.

My system specs running Windows Vista Ultimate.

CPU: DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2000 MHz (10 x 200) 3800+
Motherboard: Asus A8V (5 PCI, 1 AGP, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN)
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1650 Pro (RV535)
Hard Drives: 4X WDC WD32 00JB-00KFA0 (298 GB)
Sound: Creative Audigy LS Audio Processor
Ram: 3072 MB (4X 1024MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM)

This should give you an idea of what you need.. also this setup runs Vista Ultimate with all extra features active.

You definitely need more memory. I installed Vista on a few machines, and without any other programs installed, it was using around 600-700 MB of memory. I would go with a minimum of 1 GB of memory. As far as your processor, it will run it without any problems. You should probably consider upgrading your video card though as Vista is more visually intensive with its Aero Glass and 3D flip features.
