I have a feeling tomorrow that I will need either contacts or glasses. I would like to know the whole process of getting contacts. How long it takes before you can get and wear the contacts and other things. If you have ever gotten contacts can you just tell me some facts about what happened at your appointment and stuff, please? Thanks so much in advance!

Generally, they'll give you a normal eye exam, complete with the air-in-the-eye glaucoma test. (I hate that one.) They'll do an additional test to measure the diameter of your cornea, which they need to decide which brand of contact is best for you. Astigmatism greatly limits the number of brands you can buy, but it won't impede your ability to wear contacts in general.
Decide on a brand and whether or not you want colors, and your doc will sit down with you and give you a demonstration of how to put them in your eye. Relax, listen to what he or she says, and you'll be up and running in no time! Good luck!
