I'm not sure what is worse for you alcohol or tobacco. I think alcohol, I think is the worse drug they have ever invented and cigarettes are a close second. I have been addicted to both and they are hard to get off of. They do put money in a lot of peoples pockets though. They are legal so people think they are alright. that is a trick. The minute you over indulge just once then it off to rehab for you and now you are paying that establishment money because now you are a addict. But this of course is all legal. I drank and smoked from the time I was 21 until now and I am 57. I can't stand alcohol just the thought of it makes me sick. and not for any reason I just got sick of it. Smoking is a different story that was hard, it's been 2 years now and I have emphysema. I which I could turn back time, those are two items that I would due without in my life, and I'm sure my life would have been alot more complete. Good Luck.

Alcohol has been widely consumed since prehistoric times by people around the world, as a component of the standard diet, for hygienic or medical reasons, for its relaxant and euphoric effects, for recreational purposes, for artistic inspiration, as aphrodisiacs, and for other reasons. Some drinks have been invested with symbolic or religious significance suggesting the mystical use of alcohol, e.g. by Greco-Roman religion in the ecstatic rituals of Dionysus (also called Bacchus), god of drink and revelry; in the Christian Eucharist; and on the Jewish Shabbat and festivals (particularly Passover).

dont know what you classify as older, but my belief is that if you can live without alcohol your better off. But having said that, if you enjoy the occasional drink, thats fine, but moderation is the key thing to remember. Things can get out of hand and ive seen it happen to many people who have become alcoholics and they loose everything. Hope this helps

everyone knows its bad.. its innate in our minds and we can't deny it.. even those who say a "small portion" is not bad. who can decide what a small portion is? let alone put limits once u start drinking!
