eventually you will get used to it. I shave in the shower for convenience and speed, but I prefer a long bath where I can take my time. There is absolutely no denying it is easier to get a better shave in the bath. BTW I've been shaving for a good 15 years now.

Well, I've been shaving for years and I still find soaking the best thing to prevent the problems you mentioned. Or if you take a long enough shower, do all your washing up and then shave at the end of the shower when your skin is plumped up from the water and the hair is softened.

I am sorry but no one has asked, why do you feel you need to shave your legs? Men usually don't. Do you do some kind of sport where you feel shaving them will help?
Well, that said, the best thing really is just have them waxed and it will take care of for longer time really, then you wont have to worry about it as much.
But yes, good hot water bath makes it best but yes really a good fresh razor, especially a good one will work so long as you take care of it and shave carefully and slowly more so as to prevent chance of bumps, etc.

Everyone's advice here is sound. Warm water is key, etc. But you can shave in the shower without pre-soaking and without having the razor burn or bumps if you take care of your razor. Make sure it is clean, make sure it is sharp. Dull razors cause more red bumps and burn, ditto if it has shaving cream or soapy residue on it that builds up (this causes more razor burn and bumps).

If you do everything else in the shower first and leave shaving until last you should be fine. Rub moisturising cream into your legs after you shave. You can also buy moisturising cream that will thin the hair out.

As long as your legs are wet, you can just use a good shaving cream, which helps protect your legs.

try using body wash and a loofah or any kind of scrubber before shaving. This will remove any dry skin and allow hair to be removed easier with out pulling. It seems to work for me.

For a more effective shave each time you'll have to use warm soapy water...or you could wax..hurts but you'll only have to do it once every few months.
