What dirtyold said lmao.Seriously,just say something like what kind of hobbys do you have or interests and then ask if he would be interested in doing those things with you.Such as snowboarding,rollerskating,movies so on and so forth.

find an event you or both of you like and ask him if he's going and if so if he would take you with.
OR
tell him you want to see a movie and ask if he would like to go with you.......

Why tell him something so superficial? How about asking him to a group event and see if he goes and if so whether you can learn more about him there.
