Firefox is far better than IE could ever possibly hope to be. Regardless of the many benefits using Firefox rather than IE has one stands out as the most important. Firefox is open source. That's right you can actually see everything that makes up Firefox if you want to take a look at it. That means that you yourself can fix security holes, compatibility problems, and bugs. You can't do that with IE and you will never be able to do so. You are helpless in the face of whatever Gates' flunkies choose to do or not do with IE. If someone reports a major security risk that they found in IE Microsoft doesn't have to do anything about it and probably won't get around to fixing it for quite some time because they'll be too busy thinking of new ways to keep you from stealing their overpriced software. The open source nature of Firefox allows far more people to contribute to it and keep it safe from all of the security threats out there than the people that are working on IE.
Firefox has a much wider variety of plugins available for you to use. Most of the plugins made for Firefox are made by people rather than big corporate entities. I can't think of any IE plugin that isn't somehow benefiting the the company that made it. At the time of this writing I have 30 extensions that I'm using in Firefox and they all run quite smoothly. Any plugins for IE tend to clutter things up and hinder your use of the browser to the point that any increase in functionality that the plugin may have provided is entirely negated.
IE is used by far more people to browse the internet than any other browser. This means that the majority of malware that infects your computer through a webpage is made for IE. Even if someone were to completely deny the fact that Firefox is more secure than IE there's no way that can deny Firefox is a much smaller target and therefore less likely to have malware made to exploit it in the first place.
Firefox is more user friendly than IE. IE comes in a cold one size fits all package with little room for you to make it your own. Firefox has a plethora of themes, plugins, and utilities that allow you to make your browser fit your browsing style. If you can't find a theme or plugin that suits your needs then it's easy enough to make your own. If you decide that you don't like Firefox then you can get rid of it without any hassles but if you're running a Microsoft OS and you decide that you don't like IE then there's no way to get rid of it. Your computer can't function properly without IE no matter how much you might not want to use it and want to remove it from your computer. Firefox runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems. IE is constrained to primarily Windows systems but is available for Macs as well.
I use Firefox and deep down inside you all know that you want to be like me even if you won't openly admit it. If Firefox were a pie then it would be blueberry, the king of all pies. Firefox has a more imaginative name than IE. Feel free to ignore this arrogant, pointless, and extremely pie hungry paragraph if it adversely affects your overall impression of my answer.

FireFox is by far the more secure browser. Internet Explorer has a scores of very severe security holes that can allow malicious programs to be run on your computer. FireFox is constantly updated to prevent such flaws. Internet Explorer also utilizes a number of unsecure Windows features (ActiveX scripts for example) that FireFox doesn't allow. Internet Explorer is also the least standard compliant browser of the three major Windows browsers (including Opera in that list). FireFox also runs much faster as well as uses less memory and processing power.

With the new Internet Explorer 7, there really isn't much difference except that Firefox has a lot more add-ons available that do not come with spyware!

FireFox is more secure than Internet explorer. Internet explorer is set up to be more user friendly and has more support, but is makes more prove to attack. I use both FireFox and Opera. I use Firefox for general viewing. But use Opera for more secure tasks like net banking (opera is not supported by many internet sites).

We have all seen these banners before or heard people say "Firefox is Faster, Firefox has Lower Requirements, Firefox is Secure, Firefox defends me from all Spyware, etc." How misleading is it? Read on:

i prefer firefox.
it's much faster plus you can tweak it anything you want. It's also good for hacking contents. and less vulnerable to attacks and comes with a free pop-up blocker. Do IE7 have a pop-up blocker?
