Someone look this up, I don't have a bible on me

"If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide. 23 But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise." Ex. 21:22-25

Is this true?

You atheists appall me. that is in the Jewish law. are you stupid enough to not know the difference. that is only in the Bible to teach the differences between law and grace grow up and learn something. or are you so "logical" you can't even study something before bashing it.

Do you notice the words "he shall surely be fined." That is what those eye-for-an-eye, hand-for-hand, and foot-for-foot statements mean. A "fine" is reimbursement for the *value* of a foot, a hand, or an eye -- NOT the actual foot, hand, or eye! The Laws listed in the Torah are the *maximum* sentences and were seldom if ever used. The American Constitution includes a death penalty for certain crimes. Is it used in *all* cases?

Can you expect us to understand Christianity without ever having read the New Testament? The same goes for Judaism -- you cannot understand the words of our Tanach (OT) without an understanding of the Talmud where you willl find interpretation of the Torah laws. The New Testament negates all Laws found in our Torah, therefore they can ignore those punishments because they come from a "vengeful" God.

"If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

Exodus 21:22-25

Yep, it is.

Edit: Where in those verses does it say that unborn babies are property and not humans?

Exd 21:22 ¶ If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart [from her], and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges [determine].

Exd 21:23 And if [any] mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

Exd 21:24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

Exd 21:25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

You don't need a Bible....just go to this web site and type in the words you are looking for.

I have a New King James version, and a New International Version Bibles. They say "a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely". Doesn't use the term "miscarriage".

Other than that, the quote is correct. Old Testament laws. Not the way it is in the New Testament.

Don't you realize in the bible women and children are both property!

It is written in Deutronomy 22:28 - 29 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

Note: BECAUSE HE HATH HUMBLED HER!
RAPE IN THE BIBLE IS TO HUMBLE A WOMAN!

Oh Yes and God told people to rape women. Numbers 31:18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

REMEMBER GOD NEVER CHANGES!

Yes. Also the concept of blood for blood, like tithing, preceded the law. Both of these and many more concepts are in the book of Genesis.
And; in the NT we are warned to fear the authority God has ordained because "they bear not the sword in vain, they are the ministers of God's justice". I believe in executing the murderers and saving the innocent unborn. Hollywood saves the snail darters or whales, murders the unborn, and tries to prevent the execution of murderers.

No, the Torah was written in hebrew.
Any translation, like yours, is filled with inaccuracies.
You can't translate the Torah accurately enough to depict all what the original words intend, so I wouldn't draw any conclusions before you learn Hebrew and look it up

I believe you are reading it in a way when it says PAY that you are thinking they are asking for just money. When it says pay they are say pay in punishment. This could mean me is stoned or wiped or made to leave the town forever. Things like that.
