If you really love your partner, you'd know that character and personality are what counts in the long run. Looks will dissipate, but a person's character usually stays relatively constant.

So no, I would not be bothered or feel different about her. Even if I were to feel different, it would be in the sense that I would express concern for the fluctuation in weight. There should not be much superficiality in a true and honest relationship.

The only thing I would be concerned about would be their health, and I would talk to them about this. As far as the relationship goes I would love them for the person that they are. Just because they gain weight they should be the same person we fell in love with in the first place. Weight doesn't change who they are.

I will bother if my long term boyfriend gained a lot of weight as it is bad for his health. I will certainly tell him but in a nice way that won't hurt him. I won't feel any different as any kind of relationship doesn't forms with the way they look. It's all by their good heart & pure love.

Well, this shouldn't bother you if you are with them because you love them. If it really bothers you, you need to think about the big picture: Do you like the person inside or just the person outside? Gaining weight shouldn't make you feel different about the person if you really love who they are!

first off, 10-20 pounds isnt THAT much in my opinion. it completely depends. if its because of like a medical or physocological issue (ie depression) there is a problem and you need to address it.

if its just from being a bum and eating junk food, thats also not healthy and you need to talk to that person about it

but regardless it shouldnt affect your relationship with that person unless there is something bigger behind it.

If he's gaining weight due to laziness - I'd kick him into shape.

If it was due to illness, I'd sympathize with him. Keeping in mind he's still the same person I fell in love with.

depends why they gained the weight... if they are depressed and eating themself to death, then i would be very worried, but if its just 10 pounds and they werent overweight to begin with... who cares????
