Brainless? I think it depends on a person, rather than a position. No doubt that a doctor or a lawyer should be "smarter" or more educated than a US Army soldier. On the other hand give a lawyer or a doctor a gun and tell them to guard a point on a hill. It's a different kind of field of work.
