There are lots of good food around apart from the cheap cheap chain fast food like Cafe de Coral or Maxim's. Shopping is plentiful and cheap in Mongkok, Temple Street, Fa Yuen Street, Lei Yuen Street (East & West streets). Stanley Market sells lots of souvenirs. Pottinger Street in Central is an must see place, Granville Street, Nathan Street offers lots of side stalls and shops. Nathan road also brings you to Jordan and Yau Ma Tei where you find a variety of fusion food in small cafes and retail shops offering all kinds of goodies.

Enjoy HK, it's now smoke-free, clean public wash-rooms, it's an international city, better quality where people, lifestyle, infra-structure are concerned, a class of its own, compared to the Philippines. Locals do speak English, of course with their own accent which everyone has.

Most of my friends who had been in Hongkong had I complain! The food! Chinese food here in the Philippines is better than in Hongkong! It is probably the taste suited for Pinoys! When in Hongkong, I used to laughed at people who ate at McDonalds. I dont have anything against about it. McDonald's is in every corner here in the Philippines and if I will go there I will chose something authentic.

Right, every American we saw, where asking where McDonalds is because they had seen our take out! You will really choose to eat McDonalds instead. However, it is more expensive than what we have here. It would cost more or less P 150.00. In the Philippines, we can have a meal at around half the rate.

We also ate at Kentucky and Jollibbee. They had suggested Cafe Coral but during our last trip, I had just seen it at the airport. Most of it are located on the Kowloon side where we ate 2 years ago!

SHOPPING at Mongkok, which is their night market is just like shopping here in Divisoria at 168 or even more expensive. Temple Night Market is another place to go but I havent been there. I think it will close eventually for a structure that will be built in that place soon!

There are many department stores, however, their signature items are expensive also. Giordano are their products so expect it to be cheaper there and always on sale.

It is better to go there during their sale before the Chinese New Year and after July. You can see places to go which includes department stores in their brochures found in the airport. Just be sure you take the English version since there is a Chinese version.

There is a jumbo floating restaurant there! I think that would be a nice experience if you have the money!

My cousin said that their street foods are just fine! However, I was afraid to experiment on it. We brought mineral water through our check in things since it is expensive there! We brought noodles, food with us! I just drink their hot tea once, we were on our way home to the hotel when my stomach ache! Be sure that you just drink your bottled water.

Man. I haven't been there in a long while but i think everything was cheaper no matter where you eat. Don't forget to go shopping. You can get alot of cool stuff before it's sold here. You just need to get the adapters.

when you land, there are plenty of tourist guides and maps at the airport and they even tell you of shopping at bargains. of course that's not in malls. read through for maybe an hour and you'll have a pretty good idea. for food, be adventurous and go to chinese restaurants. there is one in kowloon that houses asiatic food as well as continental fare that me n wife ventured to and would be back 6 times for sumptuous steaks at prices you pay triple elsewhere. be adventurous, use fastfoods only as a safe last resort
