i am looking for advise on how to choose the size and style of lure to use in a lake with bass trout catfish and other kinds what is the determing factor that i should take into consideration when i am fishing for bass or trout

You need to ask people around the lake who have fished there like at a baitshop what size bass or trout are caught. You ussually want to use a spinner or top water crank bait for bass and if they say the bass are average size you use the 1.5 size. If they are large you use 2.5 and 0.5 for smaller fish.
You do the same thing for trout but the best lures are spoons and spinners. You should use the same size rate as the bass

I would start with medium size crankbaits and small 1/8 oz. spinnerbaits since it is still early in the year. You want to mimic their normal food source so pay attention to minnows or other prey they would feed on and try and match it.
