Bonfire, at sunset. Pizza and drinks in coolers. Wedding cake can still be special. We filled large bins with bouganvillea flower petals and all the guests were asked to throw handfuls onto the tide at the end of the ceremony and it was gorgeous watching the petals on the water at sunset. Light the bonfire together to symbolise the life you are starting together, and allocate each relative or bridesmaid etc. a task like manning the music station for an hour each, or sorting the food or making sure everyone has drinks. I would actually set up a couple of tables with tubs of ice so you dont have to worry about that side of things. You can have party games on the sand, and love letters in the sand. White is always a good theme for a wedding and you can even ask your guests to come in white or a specific colour, it looks great in photos.
The other option for food is a pit to bake it in, if you know how to do it.

My sister had a beautiful beach wedding in Sydney Australia, she gave all the guests a disposable camera that every gave back at the end of the wedding & she gave everyone thongs(flip flops) in a beach bag as a wedding bonbonieri/favor. Everyone LOVED them. Check out the below site

Have all the male guests come wearing Hawaiian shirts. I went to a wedding on a beach and that looked pretty cool when everyone was together outside by the water.

One idea is to go to the beach and record the sound of the waves and seagulls and have that playing in the back ground as you get married.
I went to my friends wedding last year and she got married on her favourite beach in Perth, I flew in from Sydney to be there. What stood out in my mind is we all had to get our shoes off because of the sand. Maybe thats what you can get the guests to do, to give that ocean beach feel.
Also for fun play some Beach Boys music. Get a air mattress an old surf bourd. Remove the fins from underneath it and place it on the air mattress. Then jump on the bourd to pretend you are surfing.

Just invite the people that you love and a few close friends. That will definitely save you money:) and don't hire a photographer, I'm sure one of your relatives is gifted with this talent..:) Good luck and best wishes:)
