What if any negatives for a young married couple who likes to ski in Northern Californa, and will soon start a family (e.g. kids in 1-2 years)?

it's not a family vehicle. it's an off-road vehicle with great highway manners. with that being said, you will have problems with loading and unloading kids in the back. but if you could get pass that issue, you'll have one hell of a ride.

Why not buy a 2007 Jeep Wrangler,it has 4 doors and quite a bit of room behind the back seat.If you look at the FJ it is not a true 4 door.The Wrangler is also cheaper and has won the 4 Wheel and Off Road 4x4 of the Year.If you would consider it I would also get you a number for a friends employee discount.Just e-mail me and I will get you a discount number.

It is a really bad SUV for kids, and has less passenger space than a sedan. You should look at the new Chevy Tahoe. It is completley new, and has none of the weak points the outgoing version had. It will offer you a luxurious drive in the city, and still be capable of mild off-roading. As an added bonus you would get the Ski-Chevy passes. Toyotas arent as good as thought.
