Flat feet is a condition in which the foot doesn't have a normal arch. It may affect one foot or both feet. Most people have a gap between in the inner side of the foot and the ground when they are standing. This is referred to as an "arch". Feet that have a low arch or no arch at all are referred to as flat feet or fallen arches. On standing the patient will have a flat arch and the foot may roll over to the inner aspect.
The symptoms vary depending on the severity of the condition. Individuals may experience corns and hard skin under the sole of the foot. The arch area may be tender and shoes will tend to wear out quickly. In severe cases the patient may experience calf, knee, hip and back pain.
treatment:
Yes. However, flexible flat feet that are painless do not require treatment. If flat feet cause pain, an evaluation with a health care provider is needed to determine the cause. The exact treatment will depend on the cause of the flat feet.
If your child has either rigid flat feet or flat feet with tight heel cords, the only treatment is surgery to alter the shape of the foot.
In more advanced cases, surgery may be necessary to clean the tendon, repair the tendon, or actually fuse some of the joints of the foot in a corrected postion in very advanced cases.
Expectations (prognosis)
Most cases of flat feet are painless and no problems are to be expected. The prognosis of painful flat feet again depends on the cause of the condition. Usually treatment is succesful, regardless of the cause.
If a fusion is required then there is some loss of ankle motion, especially turning the foot inward and outward, but otherwise patients with fusions report tremendous improvement in pain and function.

No cure. But you can go to a foot doctor and have an ensole made that will put your feet in proper position and take most/all the pain away. I have had flat feet all my life so I DO FEEL YOUR PAIN. Ask you regulat MD and he can refer you to a place that makes these inserts. And shoes can be made, but iI prefer the inserts

She has to strengthen the muscles in her foot, primarily arch ant toe muscles. There are plenty of exercises that she can do:
1. picking marbles from the floor
2.drawing invisible alphabet with her foot
3.doing a lot of toe raises
4.rolling her foot under tennis ball
That will make her foot look more arched, but the bone structure itself will not change.

Sure, In most cases the arch support so thoughtfull placed in our shoes only manages to make the muscles in our feet that hold up our arches weak and dependant since they do not have to work themselves. Like any other muscle in our body, regular excersize makes your muscles stronger and healthier. Walking barefoot more often will accomplish this task. The following links have finding, medical studies and anicdotal testimony showing the bad effects shoes have on our feet and legs. A little research should help you find the information you need to make an educated decision regarding what to do.

No there is nothing to cure flat foot people, you just can help make them comfortable by wearing the spl shoes to lift the arch, but when they take the shoes off their feet goes back flat.

Orthodics? Those can either make it better or worse. Shoes with great support are the best way to go. I don't think you can actually cure it, though.
oh. one more thing. You can tell if the shoe has great support if you can't bend it easily. Like, if you try to bend the sole and it's hard to do it. Kinda like hiking boots. But you can get other styles.
