I am a medium dark-skinned Black woman and every summer, if I don't apply layers of sunscreen, I get a sunburn. All of my friends and family thinks that it's funny, or I'm just weird, but it's quite a nuisance. I also get heat rashes if it's too hot out, weather the sun's shining or not. Is it normal for a Black person to get sunburn, and what's the best remedy to relieve it immediately.

Black people can get sunburned too...ignore anyone that thinks it's funny, it can be serious! Sun burns and damage put people (white, black or any other color) at an elevated risk for skin cancer. If you know you will burn easily, be sure to slather on the sunscreen and wear a hat to shade yourself. But if you do burn, the best treatment is Aloe Vera, whether the real leaf from a plant or in gel form available at any drug store--really helps to prevent peeling and excess irritation.

To relieve the heat rash and sunburn i like to use aloe vera:)
If you keep a jar in the fridge its nice and cooling when you apply it to your sunburn :)
