I know I absolutely love women - love their bodies, their smell, everything! I never made a decision to do this, it was just there. So it must be the same for gay people. So why do some people, especially the extremely religious, think it's a decision that people have made? My sister had a gay friend who told her that if he could have had a choice, he would have chosen not to be gay, just because of how difficult his life has been.

Some people do not want to believe anything that is not usual. They refuse to inform themselves. I am not gay, but I have gay friends. From everything I have learned, it appears to be a genetic predisposition.

I have never met a gay person that did not feel differently as a child. Most gay people were not raised by gay parents. Therefore, what they were feeling as children had to be something that was not learned. On the other hand, I know someone that was raised by lesbian parents that is totally straight.

If the average person took the time to become informed about the gay community, they would realize this.

Being gay is like being left-handed. Some people are born left-handed. It used to be taught in schools that left-handed people had to learn to work right-handed. The theory was that since the world was made for right-handed people, the lefties would be "left out" (which is where the expression came from). Gradually the lefties came to be accepted and the condition was considered not a choice but a matter of birth. The same with sexual orientation. I didn't choose to be heterosexual, I was born that way. I have gay friends who were born "that way". And you're absolutely right, society has made it tough for gays, on and off throughout history. But gradually I like to think we're learning. Let's hope so.

It's against their religions to tolerate gay people.

I don't think it's a decision. I don't think it's a spiritual affliction. Why? Because people who do treat it like a decision and a spiritual afflicition end up going crazy and either molest children or chop people up into little bits.

I say, let them be gay.

They just refuse to believe the facts. Your situation is not a choice. No more than someone can change their natural hair color, or height. Some are just born that way but you will not change them, so go on with your life and ignore them.

because some people are ignorant and scared. If it is a decision it can't happen to them or their family. If it is something a person is born to be, the they can't control it.

because people are stupid. they dont understand that being gay is NOT a choice. they think that it is wrong and they try to "fix" a problem that isnt there. honestly people are stupid and stubborn and im not saying that because i am gay. I AM STRAIGHT!
