Hello All,

I wanted to share something interesting with u. A cousin of a person who goes to our church and her friend were travelling on the 401 headed for a church service in Mississauga. A man was walking along the 401 and they stopped and gave him a ride. The man got in the back seat and started to converse with them and told them Jesus is coming very very soon. Then the man vanished from inside the car. The two women were shaken up and pulled over. A police officer passing by stopped to see if they were OK. They told the officer what happened and the officer replied this is the 4th time this has been reported this week. The others recieved the message Jesus is coming back very soon and they were told very very soon. It has significance, as when the word verily is used in the Bible. I was very excited when I heard.

Blessings,

Daniel

interesting responses......but nothing unexpected. There are those who will accept Jesus and those that won't and I pity them. I'm not anymore special than others nor deserve what Jesus did for me. But it is like a soldier who dies in these wars, we honor them. Only Jesus is so much more than a soldier who dies for us. When Jesus is rejected it is very sad.

It's pretty easy to spot an urban legend, they tend to start with the phrase: "A friend of someone I know"... or some such variation.

Here hon, I looked up a site that helps you spot an urban legend
http://urbanlegends.about.com/cs/urbanlegends/ht/urbanlegends.htm
Here is one that talks about your particular hitchhiker story-
http://www.snopes.com/horrors/ghosts/vanish.asp
There are many variations.
There are 79,000 web sites that mention it, yet none that I saw (admittedly I didn't look at all 79,000 of them) were from a reputable news organization.

No, verily does mean truly, it is a word which 'emphasizes' another/ phrase. Jesus will return, but, like the maidens with oil, we are supposed to be awake, aware, watchful and ready. you can see from everyone you know that most are not ready and are alseep in the Word. No studying, no seeking of the truth (scripture), etc. Jesus will return, but there are very clear signs outlined in the Bible. The blocking of the Euphrates river, for example. Who knows that ? Probably almost no one else on this site ! and that is only one of them. people who study and pray for understanding find it, if they are living for God. There are many false prophets and churches - 99% of them today. demons, ghosts- people with simple minds are easily led astray.

I have not heard that urban legend for a long while. I think that the first time was when I was very little, maybe three or four. I did not believe it then, and I don't think anyone else did either. Every time it came up, I think that only one person believed it for a moment and everyone really made fun of them.

I too think it is based on some of those really old ghost hitch-hiker stories.

please...... Jesus has been coming sense before he was dead. even He said He was coming soon. Paul said it. James said it. The bible says he will come like a thief in the night. and that no one will be ready. if you Christians want Him back so soon then stop saying He's coming soon and start spreading the word to all. its also said he won't come until every ear has heard. get the point. stop looking forward and look to the now. even though it says keep your eye on the goal. don't forget the lost or ye to will be lost(no not a biblical quote but true to Christians[i like the pirate accent])

And I know a lady who knew these guys that sold a $100K shop for half that price in august, 2001, because they had a family emergency back home in the middle east.. they told her they were Kurdish, but had Arabic documents all over the shop when they left.. And my story has one less level of separation.. They sold her and some friends the shop.. she wonders to this day if she gave people the last few dollars they needed to work on 9-11...

God bless you.

The Coming of the Kingdom of God
20Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, 21nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within[b] you."

22Then he said to his disciples, "The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. 23Men will tell you, 'There he is!' or 'Here he is!' Do not go running off after them. 24For the Son of Man in his day[c] will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. 25But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

26"Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

28"It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

30"It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31On that day no one who is on the roof of his house, with his goods inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. 32Remember Lot's wife! 33Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. 35Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left."

I only know what the Bible says:

Mat 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

__________

Luk 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

ARE YOU READY?

very- it means 'much'

verily- it means 'truly'

also in Hebrew(which i studied for several years) when a person repeats a word(verily, verily; moses, moses;my god my god;etc.) it is a clue to the hearer to listen up or as to say this is important. Hebrew is a very poetic language, always keep that in mind.

Whether or not this is real, the prophesies of the bible are coming true and I believe that it is a matter of time before Jesus comes back.

That is so not surprising actually...I am not saying that to sound mean, I think it is scary to think about it, but it is in a way great..We all know that God works in ways we never think of, and it is close for His return, and I don't doubt it at all that He would do it that way either..It would be something to have it happen to us, am not sure how I would react myself though..Yeah I agree with you it is something to get excited about...It did make me get chills but a good kind of chills just knowing He will be coming soon..wow!!
