Is this aunt a really intrusive person or do you think she was just honestly trying to help. Try to put your finger on why it seems weird. Is the ring the most important part of the engagement?

Best wishes for a lovely future together.

The ring has nothing to do with the commitment. She is not marrying her aunt, she is marrying you. Why are you making such a big deal over a ring? Some people do not even have rings to exchange when they take their vows. Move on an enjoy your new life. There will be plenty of real things to worry about later.

If your fiance' is allergic, give the ring back to your grandmother. Your grandmother can pass it down to another family member.

I see. It's awkward for you to feel like your fiancée got engaged to her aunt. However, having her engaged to your grandmother is just fine.

Don't give the ring back. People are usually offended when you return/refuse their gifts. The aunt did something very nice for you, there's no reason for you take that away from her.

If your fiancée is satisfied, then you should be as well.

A jeweler could take your grandmother's ring and re-create the ring using a metal she isn't allergic too. It wouldn't be the same, but the diamonds would be. Then, you could give the other ring back to her aunt.

I say, reset the ring, in the exact same design as the original one... just make it in a material that she is not allergic tobut make sure your fiance likes it in the first place... If it were me, i would rather a ring that my fiance buys as compared to one given by my aunt...

If it feels weird then you should buy her a new engagement ring, say thank you to your aunt for the offer

you need to be open with your sonn to be and her aunt and tell them that you love the new ring but you would really like to be able to do for your fiance. ask the aunt and your girl if it would be ok to combine the two rings into one. that way if hers is a family ring too you still have part of them both. best wishes to you and your fiance

Why is her aunt giving you the engagement ring. You should buy a ring yourself...not have it given to you by someone in her family.

whats the difference between feeling like she's engaged to her aunt to her feeling like she's engaged to your grandma? they were both other peoples rings before.. and now they areboth yours. do what you want with them.. either get grandma's stone re set in a new ring, or maybe even if the ring from your aunt wasnt too valuable get it melted and set grandmas stone in that. or if either ring has more than one stone maybe you could combine the stones or buy new stones to go with them.. work it out.

If it's possible, maybe take the diamond from your grandmother's ring and put it in a new setting, like silver or platinum? It would be a nice combination of old and new coming together...
