Instead of me explaining it, I'll just give you an illustration.

Think back to the days BEFORE you learned how to use the computer: how did you do your homework? what was your daily routine?

Now fast forward to the present: how do you do your homework now? what is your daily routine now?

The way you do things have changed dramatically and drastically (things are not the same anymore) after you've made your discovery (the computer is a great learning tool!).

I think it would mean that after the excitement was over, you have nothing else to look forward to for a while. Or the discovery was so intense that it changes your outlook for the future. Whatever the discovery was, good luck to you.

Because you see things in a different way. When you discover that life is too short to waste time being sad, you change your attitude and start living it right. You might find this out when someone you know dies or when you miss out on something cool. From an academic point of view, I would say that when you learn something new, you cannot ignore that enlightenment. It will effect your education from then on.
