is this a good remote control car?

its a 1:10 4WD ESC Electric Off Road Buggy. Does it really go 40MPH?

Sure, I'd think you'd be happy with that. Especially if you are newer to the RC hobby. As far as the speed, I have not personally seen that model, but others similar can easily do 30-40 mph. I have seen the gas powered ones do more than that!
