My sister got a ticket for doing so yrs ago. Was wondering if it was legal because we have that problem. Neighbor parks there all the time and they tried blaming a dent on us.

I'd say that depends on your city and state. There are could be an ordinance written against it in your area.

Call your local police station and ask. If you aren't satisfied with the answer, consult with a lawyer. Though that sounds like an expensive option, $50 - 100 is a small price to pay to get rid of a pain that can last years.

Where the heck do you live because that sounds so...preferential treatment/gated community ,crud.Honestly-they(the neighbor) must know a cop/judge or someone.
Fire departments are the only driveways you can not park across from here in California....Maybe something else as in hospital but really, residential- someone is bluffing you guys

Well, you can not block a driveway. . ., but if they are parking on the other side of the street, they are parking legally. They probably picked up their dent in a public parking lot. Seems to be where I get all of mine.

Depends on the city. But as long as you're not blocking the driveway or another then you can park there. As to the dent, they need to prove it was caused by the person, not jucy supposition based on coincidental circumstances.

Its sad to admit but the laws of today unfortunatly for us honest citizens really boils down to this , it's what ever the cops want to do and there is little we can do about it cause this is such a police state that they have their own set of laws to contol us and bully honest citizens into paying some cornball crap from whatever they make up to be in control and to make money from us over petty bullcrap like seatbelt violations and overabusive traffic control ETC , but let the real crooks run free cause they make no money arresting real criminals.

Its considered blocking or impeding a driveway if the vehicle in the driveway can't manauver out.

Sorry to say it is legal but not very dang courteous on their part. It makes it harder for you to back out, you have to worry about hitting their car every time you back out. They apparently aren't to concerned about getting hit.
Sounds like you got idiot neighbors, there's one in every neighbor hood. We have a neighbor that does the same thing, drives my husband crazy.

No it is never legal to block someone's driveway, whether the ir car is there, or not. How are they going to get in , or out with your car in the way?
