I've been there before, although not quite at that level. I was obsessed with exercise and would plan my schedule around when I could get into the gym to work out. For me, working out was my "me" time where I could just zone out and re-center myself. Any sort of stress or anxiety I was feeling before working out would be gone afterwards, and then I could sit down and focus on what I needed to get done. I don't know if that helps or not, but that's my experience...

Be glad that is what you thrive on and not something bad. Look at it this way, you thrive on making yourself better, stronger, and having a healthy life style. But if it really bothers you, you should seek some counceling.
